mission statement
As an artist, I commit myself to convey truth, wisdom and observation with honesty through my work. I believe firmly that music is a powerful means for human beings to relate to each other and to connect on a deep spiritual level.
As a singer, I commit to telling you my story through song with integrity.
As a teacher, I give back to others what I have been so blessed with. I seek to deliver a high standard of music education to my students, providing them with a firm foundation in proper technique, theoretical accuracy and informed musical traditions. At the same time, I recognize with great respect that every student is different in terms of personality, learning ability and that he or she may have particular musical needs. I cater to the requirements of my students, both spoken or yet unknown, as unique individuals without conforming to a set way of teaching but rather, design my lessons as a dynamic scheme of constant growth and exploration.
I believe firmly in the wonderful role that encouragement plays in my teaching. It is what enables a student to have the confidence he or she needs to be forward thinking, open and positive in order to effectively learn. I understand that patience is needed in guiding a student to grow and get better. I know that educating a student is oftentimes a journey which requires a lot of time and repetition and so I take on the task with a lot of faith.
In all of these ways, I am responsible for shepherding my student towards learning and self-discovery with joy.
